About
Hey-min
Songs about the gap between who you think you are and who you actually are.
Sam Haiman spends his days behind a console. He is a working audio engineer with a home studio full of the same gear he points at everybody else’s records — and the songs get made in the hours around that job, which is to say early, late, and in between.
In December 2019 he played Show Me Love live on America Salutes You: Guitar Legends 3, a benefit built around brain and mental wellness programs for veterans and service members. Then it went quiet for a while.
It came back in 2024 as a four-month run: babylon in May, no good in June, thinkin’ about you in August, and the running out of time EP in September — written with Spencer Mijanovich, Daniel Knittel, Adam Moore, Meredith Snyder and Michelle Periera, out on Theo Sounds. Together they have been played more than 293,000 times.
The subject barely moves across all four: anxiety, self-doubt, and the specific stupidity of believing you can’t do the thing you already know how to do.
“This song is about believing you are incapable of doing the things you want to do, or being the person you want to be — and realizing you are wrong in that belief.” Sam Haiman on “running out of time”
